Ingredients you will need

All you need for this banana kiwi smoothie bowl is;

  • Frozen Bananas
  • Ripe Kiwi
  • Thick Yogurt

Should I use regular or frozen bananas to make the kiwi smoothie bowl?

I would highly suggest that you use frozen bananas to make this banana smoothie bowl. This is because they make the smoothie thick in texture and enhance the creaminess.

If you use regular fresh bananas, the smoothie will be runny and more of a juice than a smoothie.

If you do not mind a watery smoothie then you can go ahead and use unfrozen banana, but for those who want a thick smoothie, frozen is the way to go.

How do I freeze my bananas?

Peel a ripe banana and slice it up into smaller pieces of about 1 inch slices. Put the banana slices in a ziploc bag. Place it in the freezer and remove them when you need to make the smoothie.

Do I need ripe kiwi for this?

Yes. For best results and taste, ripe kiwi is a must for this smoothie. I personally do not like the taste of under ripened kiwi since it can be a little tart to the taste buds.

I do not have ripe kiwi, what can I do?

If the Kiwis you have are not fully ripe, you can add in some honey to avoid the tart taste effect that the under ripe kiwi will bring.

Alternatively, you can store them in the fridge next to a fruit like a banana or apple for a few days to make it ripen quicker.

Wait, how do I know my kiwis are ripe?

Ripe kiwis are usually slightly soft when you press them lightly but still retains its shape. If it has gotten slightly over ripe, that means there are a couple of mushy spots when you press slightly, you can still use it for this smoothie recipe.
