Ingredients you will need

All you need for this banana kiwi smoothie bowl is;

  • Frozen Pineapple slices
  • Frozen Banana slices
  • Cocoa powder
  • Chocolate chips

Can I use fresh bananas to make the pineapple chocolate smoothie?

I would highly suggest that you use frozen bananas to make this banana smoothie bowl. This is because they make the smoothie thick in texture and enhance the creaminess.

If you use regular fresh bananas, the smoothie will be runny and more of a juice than a smoothie.

If you do not mind a watery smoothie then you can go ahead and use unfrozen banana, but for those who want a thick smoothie, frozen is the way to go.

How do I freeze my bananas?

Peel a ripe banana and slice it up into smaller pieces of about 1 inch slices. Put the banana slices in a ziploc bag. Place it in the freezer and remove them when you need to make the smoothie.

Can I omit the bananas?

Yes.

You can definitely skip the bananas in this recipe. However, I would suggest using peanut butter to make it thick if you intend not to use bananas.
