Ingredients For Making Aloo Matar
- 1 1/2 cups green peas fresh
- 3 large potatoes, peeled and cut into cubes
- 2 large onions finely chopped
- 3 tomatoes, pureed
- 200 ml coconut milk
- 150 ml water
- 2 small green chillis
- 1 cm ginger crushed
- 3 garlic cloves crushed
- 1 1/2 tsp. cumin powder
- 1 1/2 tsp. garam masala
- 1 1/2 tsp. coriander powder
- 1 tsp. cayenne powder
- 1 tsp. salt (or to taste)
- 2 tbsp. cooking oil
- 1 small bunch coriander leaves (chopped)
How To Make Aloo Matar
- Put a sauce pan on medium heat, add the cooking oil and let it heat up, add the chopped onions and saute them until they are golden brown.
- Add the crushed ginger and garlic, cook for about 50 seconds, then add the pureed tomatoes, turmeric, coriander powder, cumin, cayenne pepper and salt, mix well and cook for 2 minutes.
- Add the potatoes and peas, mix well to coat them with paste, pour in the water, cover and simmer for 20 minutes or until the potatoes are tender but not fully cooked.
- Add the coconut milk, garam masala and simmer for 10 minutes. Garnish with the chopped coriander and serve while still hot.
- This amazing aloo mutter can be served with a dish of rice, chapati or naan.
