Banana Cake

Banana cake is one of my most favorite cakes that i bake most often. It is very moist and flavorful and full of sweetness.

Banana Cake is very versatile whether served with frosting, with added frosting or with added flavors like chocolate chips or spices or just alone, it is always pleasing.

Always use ripe bananas for a flavorful moist cake, the riper the bananas the better the flavor. Use brown sugar for a more depth and moist in the cake.

Banana cakes are usually moist and de se due to the bananas. The flavor of the bananas gives it a shiny texture and pairs well with spices like cinnamon or nutmeg powder.

Depending on the ratio of ingredients used and the method of mixing, your banana cake can be fluffy or slightly dense.

Ingredients For Making Banana Cake

275 g Self-raising wheat flour

225 g butter

225 g brown sugar

3 eggs

4 ripe bananas (2 mushed and 2 sliced)

2 tsp. Cinnamon powder

2 tsp. Nutmeg powder

Salt to taste

60 ml Plain yoghurt

2 tbsp. Maple syrup

How To Prepare Banana Cake

  1. Beat the sugar and butter together with an electric whisk until very fluffy. This can take about 5 minutes.
  2. Add the eggs and continue beating for another 3 minutes. Add the mushed bananas and fold them into the batter until evenly mixed.
  3. Add the cinnamon, salt and nutmeg powder and fold them into the batter.
  4. Add the flour bit by bit folding into the batter in about 3 portions. Then fold in the yoghurt.
  5. Line a baking tray with parchment paper, then spread the maple syrup evenly on the base. Lay the sliced bananas uniformly on the base of the the maple syrup.
  6. Pour in the batter and spread well and then pat the baking tin on the surface for even distribution of the batter.
  7. Bake on 175 degrees for 1 1/2 hours.
  8. Insert a toothpick into the center of the cake to check if it is ready. Put it on a rack to cool before removing form the baking tin.
