Chinese Fried Rice is one of the most popular and versatile dish which is enjoyed all over the world as a side dish or even as a main course.

It is good to remember that the main ingredient, rice should be one day old, or when cooked on the same day, it should be let to cool down completely before using it into the main dish.

The main proteins are either beef, shrimp, chicken, pork or eggs. Vegetables such as peas, carrots, bell peppers and corn are used.

Ingredients Used In Making Chinese Fried Rice

1 cup long grain rice thoroughly washed.

500 g minced beef

1 large white onion (chopped)

5 garlic cloves (crushed)

2 cm ginger(crushed)

1 tsp. paprika powder

1 tsp. black pepper

2 tbs. oyster sauce

1 tbsp. soy sauce

Salt to taste

cooking oil

2 small carrots, cut into cubes

1/2 yellow bell pepper, cubed

1/2 cup green peas (boiled)

1/2 cup shredded cabbage

1 tsp. hot sauce(optional)

How To Prepare Chinese Fried Rice

  1. Cook the rice by boiling water, add salt and cooking oil. Cook until done but not over cooked. Set aside to cool.
  2. In a sauce pan, add cooking oil and heat it up. Add the onions and sauté. Add the garlic and ginger and cook on low heat.
  3. Add the paprika powder, black pepper and turmeric. Stir and cook for about 2 minutes.
  4. Add the minced beef, combine with the onion mixture and cover and cook on low heat until it is no longer pink in color.
  5. Once the meat is cooked through, add the carrots, cover and simmer for 3 minutes.
  6. Add the already per boiled green peas, yellow bell peppers, cabbage and tomatoes, stir well to combine everything together. Cover and cook for 3 minutes.
  7. Then add the cooked rice, soy sauce, hot sauce oyster sauce and stir gently to combine. Simmer for about 2 minutes on low heat.
  8. Remove from heat, cover and let it rest for 5 minutes before serving.
