Ingredients For Making Home Made Doughnuts
- 350 g all purpose wheat flour
- 240 ml milk
- 1 1/4 tsp. instant yeast
- 1 tbsp. Milk powder
- 2 tbsp. Butter
- 30 g Sugar
- 1/4 tsp. Salt
- 1 tsp. Nutmeg Powder
How To Prepare Home Made Doughnuts
- Put tepid milk in a mixing bowl, add the milk, yeast, sugar, butter, salt and nutmeg powder and mix well.
- In a different bowl, add the wheat flour and powdered milk and combine well, pour the liquid mixture into the flour mixture and mix together with a spoon.
- Start mixing with your hand and start forming into a dough. Knead for about 10 minutes or until the dough is soft and elastic.
- Put in a bowl and cover with a kitchen cloth, and put aside to rise for 1 hour or until the dough is double in size. The dough should spring back slowly when pressed.
- Cut the dough into equal sizes and roll into smooth balls, or you can use a donut cutter to get uniform balls.
- Put on a tray and cover, put to rest until double in size.
- Heat oil in a pan to 160 degrees, put the balls in the oil and fry for 2-3 minutes until golden brown. Turn the donuts to cook on the underside.
- Fry in small butches so that the oil temperature stays stable.
- Avoid putting too many donuts into the oil as this will drop the heat, and make them grease.
