This Simple Brown Sugar Cake is a moist and very flavorful cake that i made using brown sugar and butter which has given it a rich caramel-like taste.

I have added over-ripe bananas in this cake in order to give the cake that extra sweetness and moisture. I have used cream of tartar to create an airy texture because ripe bananas make the cakes dense.

The brown sugar that i have used gives the cake a dark brown base with the butter providing moisture and richness.

This Simple Brown Sugar Cake has a rich caramelized flavor that has some taste of molasses which adds some complexity than what a regular white cake gives.

Ingredients Used In Making Brown Sugar Cake

  • 225 g Self-raising wheat flour
  • 125 g Butter
  • 175 g Brown sugar
  • 2 Eggs
  • 150 ml Natural yoghurt
  • 3 over-ripe bananas
  • 1 tsp. Cream or Tartar
  • 1 tsp. Cinnamon Powder

How To Make Brown Sugar Cake

  1. Prepare the baking tin by spraying it with non-stick oil.
  2. Pre-heat the oven to 180 degrees.
  3. Cream the butter and sugar together until very fluffy. Beat in the eggs one by one.
  4. Add the yoghurt and continue mixing. Add the over-ripe bananas and mix together then add the cream of tartar and cinnamon powder and mix.
  5. Sift the wheat flour into the butter mixture and fold in the flour. Mix until smooth with no lumps.
  6. Spoon the batter into the baking tin and put into the pre-heated oven and bake for 45 minute, or until when a knife inserted into the centre comes out clean.
  7. Wait for the cake to cool and then put on a wire rack.
