Chicken Alfredo Pasta

Chicken Alfredo Pasta pinit

I started making chicken Alfredo pasta at home because restaurant Alfredo started feeling way too heavy for me sometimes, and honestly a lot of them barely even tasted fresh anymore. Homemade just hits differently. The sauce tastes creamier, the chicken actually has flavor, and you can control how rich you want everything to be.

This recipe became one of my go-to dinners because it feels comforting without needing complicated ingredients or hours in the kitchen. The sauce coats the pasta properly instead of turning into a thick glue situation after five minutes, which honestly matters more than people think. If you already enjoy recipes like Creamy Cajun Shrimp Pasta, Chicken Mushroom Pasta, or Pasta With Chicken Sausage And Broccoli, this chicken Alfredo pasta fits perfectly into that easy homemade dinner rotation.

Why You Will Love This Chicken Alfredo Pasta

What I love most about this pasta is how creamy the sauce gets without needing anything complicated. The parmesan melts into the sauce perfectly while the garlic gives everything way more flavor.

The chicken also stays juicy instead of dry, which makes such a huge difference in Alfredo recipes honestly.

Another thing I like is that this recipe feels filling and comforting while still being simple enough for busy weeknights.

It’s also really customizable. Sometimes I add broccoli, mushrooms, spinach, or extra black pepper depending on what I have at home.

What You Will Need For Chicken Alfredo Pasta

A large skillet or sauté pan works best because you need enough space for the pasta and sauce to mix together properly.

You’ll also need a large pot for boiling the pasta evenly.

A whisk helps the Alfredo sauce stay smooth while the cheese melts into the cream.

If you want freshly grated parmesan, a simple grater makes a huge difference because fresh parmesan melts much better than pre-shredded.

Ingredients For Chicken Alfredo Pasta

  • 12 ounces fettuccine pasta
  • 2 chicken breasts, sliced
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1½ cups grated parmesan cheese
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons chopped parsley

How To Make Chicken Alfredo Pasta

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook the pasta until al dente.

Before draining, save about half a cup of pasta water.

Season the chicken with garlic powder, salt, and black pepper.

Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.

Add the chicken and cook until golden and fully cooked. Remove from the skillet and set aside.

In the same skillet, melt the butter.

Add the garlic and cook for about 30 seconds until fragrant.

Pour in the heavy cream and let it simmer gently for a few minutes.

Whisk in the parmesan cheese until the sauce becomes smooth and creamy.

Add the cooked pasta into the skillet and toss everything together. If the sauce feels too thick, add a little pasta water.

Return the chicken to the skillet and mix everything together.

Top with chopped parsley before serving.

I usually add extra parmesan and black pepper right before eating because Alfredo pasta honestly always tastes better that way. This pasta also goes really well with Frisee Salad, Buttermilk Cornbread Muffins, or even Strawberry Lemonade if you want something fresh on the side.

Tips For Chicken Alfredo Pasta

Fresh parmesan works much better here because it melts smoothly into the sauce instead of becoming grainy.

Keep the heat lower once the cream goes in so the sauce stays smooth and doesn’t separate.

Saving pasta water really helps loosen the sauce while still keeping it creamy.

Try not to overcook the pasta because it keeps softening slightly once mixed into the hot sauce.
