Homemade Pizza Rolls

I started making Homemade Pizza Rolls because I randomly bought a frozen bag one day for nostalgia and honestly they were not as good as I remembered. The filling barely tasted like anything and half of them exploded in the oven. Making them at home turned out way better, and now I actually keep pizza dough around just for this recipe.

These Homemade Pizza Rolls come out crispy on the outside with cheesy pizza filling inside, and you can add whatever toppings you like without ending up with weird mystery ingredients. I’ve made these for movie nights, snacks, lazy dinners, and honestly they disappear ridiculously fast every single time. If you already like recipes like Pizza Bagels, Baked Cheesy Quesadilla, or Chicken Caesar Salad Flatbread, these pizza rolls fit right into that easy homemade comfort food category.

Why You Will Love These Homemade Pizza Rolls

What I love most about these pizza rolls is that they actually taste like pizza instead of just bread with a tiny bit of filling hidden inside.

The outside gets golden and slightly crispy while the cheese inside turns perfectly melty. You also get way more filling compared to frozen pizza rolls, which honestly makes a huge difference.

Another good thing is how customizable they are. You can add pepperoni, vegetables, sausage, extra cheese, or keep them simple depending on what you already have at home.

They’re also great for making ahead because they reheat surprisingly well in the oven or air fryer without turning soggy.

What You Will Need For Homemade Pizza Rolls

A large baking sheet works best because the pizza rolls need a little space around them to crisp up properly while baking.

You’ll also need parchment paper or a lightly greased tray to stop the cheese from sticking once it melts out slightly.

A rolling pin helps flatten the pizza dough evenly so the rolls bake properly without becoming too thick in some spots.

If you want cleaner edges while cutting the dough, a pizza cutter actually works really well here.

Ingredients Needed

  • 1 pizza dough
  • 1 cup pizza sauce
  • 1½ cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup mini pepperoni slices
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • 2 tablespoons grated parmesan cheese
  • 1 tablespoon chopped parsley
How To Make Homemade Pizza Rolls

How To Make It

Preheat the oven to 220°C (425°F).

Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Roll out the pizza dough into a large rectangle on a lightly floured surface.

Spread pizza sauce evenly over the dough, leaving a small border around the edges.

Sprinkle mozzarella cheese evenly across the dough, then add mini pepperoni slices, Italian seasoning, and garlic powder.

Starting from one long side, tightly roll the dough into a log shape.

Slice the dough into even rolls and place them onto the baking sheet.

Brush the tops lightly with melted butter.

Bake for about 15 to 18 minutes until golden and cooked through.

Remove from the oven and sprinkle parmesan cheese and parsley over the top before serving.

I usually serve these with extra pizza sauce on the side for dipping because somehow there’s never enough sauce otherwise. These pizza rolls also go really well with Chicken Caesar Salad, Frisee Salad, or even Strawberry Lemonade if you want something simple alongside them.

Tips For Homemade Pizza Rolls

Try not to overfill the dough or the cheese leaks out too much while baking.

Rolling the dough tightly helps the pizza rolls keep their shape better in the oven.

If the dough feels sticky while rolling, lightly dust the surface with flour so it’s easier to handle.

Fresh mozzarella works well here too, but make sure it isn’t overly wet or the rolls can turn soggy.
