This Owl Oatmeal Bowl is a fun breakfast that turns an ordinary bowl of oatmeal into a cute owl face using simple fruit toppings. Warm oatmeal is decorated with banana slices, blueberries, and apple slices to create an adorable design that looks impressive but takes only a few minutes to make.

Ingredients

Oatmeal

  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 2 cups milk or water
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup or honey
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt

Owl Decoration

  • 1 banana
  • 2 blueberries
  • ½ apple
  • 1 strawberry or small raspberry

Instructions

  • Add the oats, milk, salt, and vanilla extract to a saucepan.
  • Bring to a gentle simmer over medium heat, stirring occasionally.
  • Cook for 4 to 5 minutes until the oatmeal becomes thick and creamy.
  • Stir in the maple syrup.
  • Spoon the oatmeal into a wide serving bowl.
  • Use the back of a spoon to spread the oatmeal evenly across the bowl.
  • Cut two thick banana slices.
  • Place the banana slices near the top center of the bowl.
  • Add one blueberry to the center of each banana slice to create the owl's eyes.
  • Thinly slice the apple.
  • Arrange the apple slices on both sides of the oatmeal to create wings.
  • Overlap them slightly to resemble feathers
  • Place additional apple slices above the eyes to create eyebrows.
  • Use a small strawberry piece or raspberry in the center below the eyes for the beak.
  • Serve immediately while the oatmeal is still warm.
